"Three things are required at Christmas Time, plum pudding, beef and Pantomime. Folks could resist the former two, but without the latter, none could do!"

Maldon Pantomime Society (MAPS) are a totally amateur theatrical group based in Maldon, Essex with an annually elected steering Committee and approximately active 100 members.
Forrmed in 1993 by enthusiastic members of local amateur dramatic and choral societies, as well as other interested people, MAPS focuses solely on producing quality Pantomimes and has the stated aims of:-

Providing Maldon with a traditional Christmas 'Panto' each year.
Stimulating interest in this unique form of entertainment for both adults and children.*
Making donations to nominated charities.

*(Indeed, many children's first introduction to live theatre is via the medium of Pantomime).

In 1999 Maldon Council opened a new Town Hall situated on the site of the original Jubilee Hall. After having performed throughout the 1990's at the Plume School in town, MAPS had the honour of staging the first major production held in the new hall in January 2000, and has been playing to enthusiastic audiences every year since – often to full houses throughout the season!

Because of the warmth of the venue and audiences, as well as the support given by the Council, MAPS are pleased to confirm their continuing commitment to use the Town Hall for their productions for the foreseeable future.

MAPS play 6 performances a year (over two weekends) each January to combined audiences approaching 1100 people in total.
Auditions for new productions are held in July and Rehearsals commence early September (on Tuesdays & Fridays) right through to the Production weekends the following January.

News, important information, diary dates etc. are regularly posted on this Web site, through members newsletters and postings in the local press.

The society continues to grow each year in both experience, quality of productions and an enthusiastic membership (both young and old) joining each year.
